WORKING BEES AT THE MONARTO EQUESTRIAN CENTRE

MONARTO BELONGS TO EACH MEMBER OF SOUTHERN ZONE

AND TO FUTURE GENERATIONS OF RIDERS

As owners of MEC the responsibility of maintenance and upkeep falls upon all members of the Southern Zone.

We also have a small committee dedicated to the future development of the centre and 2010 will see the start of some big developments to improve the current facilities and expand the centres use for future generations.

As the centre is funded and run by Southern Zone members, club are allocated with a certain number of hours each year (based on membership numbers) that they are required to complete as working bee hours. Without these the centre would fall into disrepair.

THERE ARE TWO FORMATS UNDER WHICH WORKING BEES ARE HELD

1.      CAMP FEE REDUCTION: THIS ONE CAN BENEFIT YOU!

A camp working bee during the week prior to camp can be used to reduce the cost of camp fees for the annual camp held in October. Parents working a full 8 hours working bee can reduce the camp fee by $60 per child. Parents unable to complete full 8 hours will only be credited with hours completed.

2.      CLUB WORKING BEE COMMITMENT: BOOK IN ADVANCE

Clubs are committed to a set number of hours (three (3) hours per member) according to the number of members within the Club. Note that these working bees do not qualify parents for a reduction in Camp Fees.

Clubs can make this an annual picnic style day or weekend camp and rally for riders while parents work the Club commitment.

All Clubs please note: It is your responsibility to ensure that at the completion of a Club working bee, the appropriate paperwork is filled in and returned to the Zone Secretary so that the hours you have worked get recorded against your Club.

Alternatively Clubs unable to raise the assistance of parents to undertake the commitment may fulfil their obligation by paying the hourly rate of $20.00. Monies raised by this means will be used to employ skilled persons. Based on the above, Clubs should note that persons attending working bees are effectively working at the rate of $20.00 per hour for their Club.

Tasks: Work carried out at working bees will be wide and varied but similar to maintaining any property. A large proportion of work carried out will involve the construction and maintenance of the facility, horse yards, stables and sheds.

Jobs will be for your club. Normally one of the Monarto Management Committee will be on site to provide guidance if required. Ideally each Club should have one person nominated to liaise with the Management Committee. This will assist in ensuring that maximum value is obtained from working bees.

If you or your club feel they may have any expertise that may benefit the centre i.e.; earthmoving, drilling, landscaping feel free to contact Felicity as these services can also be used in lieu of hours.

We are always welcoming new sponsorship
